No One Cares About Your Blog

November 15, 2007

A fresh loaf of CATALYST Monthly is cooling on the stove. Check-out this article about blogs...

"My favorite t-shirt says, "No One Cares About Your Blog." It's a phrase that pokes fun at bloggers who think their ideas can change the world. There's something about blogging that gives us an overblown sense of self-importance. All it takes is one successful post and we think the world is following us. But blogging is just a platform, and it's best to keep the platform low so we don't land too hard when we fall. Blogging is no substitute for the leadership that God has chosen to appoint" ... read more

Community Mourns Christian’s Death

One of our group leaders suffered a tremendous loss earlier this month when a well loved member of his ministry was killed by a drunk driver. Samantha Spade was a devoted disciple of Christ, caring, self-sacrificing, who made a significant impact on her community by the way she followed Jesus.

This tragedy causes us to reflect and wonder: "Am I making an impact for Jesus?"

The Year of Living Biblically

November 13, 2007

Is a new book by A.J. Jacobs, about his experience as he takes a year and tries to keep all the hundreds of commands in the Old Testament. He tries to keep the rules as literally as possible; everything from not shaving his beard to not cooking a calf in its mother's milk.

What's interesting is that Abrams, a self proclaimed agnostic, discovers that some of the more odd, legalistic parts of the OT actually draw him closer to God - that his beliefs begin to follow his actions. Check-out this entertaining "dialogue" between the Jewish A.J. Jacobs and the Christian Matt Labash.

Rebellion of Thought

November 07, 2007

What is postmodernism? How has it affected our culture? How will it impact our future? What is the role of the church in a postmodern context? Does man truly need God or is god merely a fairytale idea leftover from a past cultural experiment? These questions are the launching point for Rebellion of Thought, a new movie from Exploration Films.

In this compelling documentary, The Brothers Williamson interview professors, as well as people off the street, about Post-Modernism and how it affects our culture. These interviews, combined with the Brothers's stories and creative cinematography, create a provocative montage of thoughts and questions which challenge the "status-quo" of the Church in America.

Rebellion of Thought releases on DVD Nov 13th. For more information see Exploration Films.com
