New Map

We are still here in Atlanta getting ready for our longest road trip to date. Next Monday and Tuesday we will be at The Evolve Conference, a conference for Church Planters located in Cumming, GA just north of Atlanta. On Thursday we head to Auburn, AL - the first stop of a 3 week journey through AL, TN, TX, CO, OK, AR, and MO. Love Your Enemy

Seeing these stunning images reminds me of the amazing radicalishness of Jesus' message of love. I wonder if we've even begun to understand how much He loves us, and how central LOVE should be to our thought and practice.

What would happen if we really did love our enemies?

Kumar door-to-door

Here's an encouraging story from ThinkChristian.net:

A few years later, he went back to India. Kumar took his vacation from Sun, and headed over with no plan. He just went door-to-door, and told people about Jesus.

The first day, 45 people decided to become Jesus-followers. How'd THAT happen?

"I don't know. I just went door to door, and neighbors would introduce me to others, and I was amazed."

Kumar still takes his vacations, two weeks a year, and heads to India. But things have grown. From those first 45, and from his trips over the past seven years...

More than 100,000 conversions. 139 communities. More than 100 pastors. Model orphanages for children suffering from AIDS Schools for Dalit children, the lowest-of-the-low in India. Shelters for little girls, now rescued from prostitution. Food. Medicine. Jesus.

Top Ten Leadership Mistakes

Tony Morgan recently shared this talk at the Church Solutions Conference in AZ. Here's the recap thanks to the illustrious Tim Stevens:

Hiring Too Fast. Firing Too Slow. Every minute I delay in firing, I take away opportunity for God to work in that person's life.
Putting Projects before the People. Embrace the tension and find the balance between leadership and shepherding.
Trying to Fix the Problem Rather than the Process. Ninety percent of the time it isn't a people-problem. It is a process-problem.
Delegating Tasks Instead of Responsibility. It is hard to delegate, because many times I (wrongly) think I'm the only one who can do it right.
Assuming it is Always Black and White. Following rules is a lot easier than trying to deal with relationships.
Not Following my Gut. When we stop listening to God, he stops talking to us (consider the 13-year gap when God stopped talking to Abraham).
Dwelling on the Worst-Case Scenario. Worry might not be your issue, but everyone has an issue that can derail them.
Waiting Until There's a Problem to Provide Feedback. I have to discipline myself to encourage my team.
Staying Busy. It is a lie, but I tend to think if I'm staying busy, I'm adding value to my organization. (Fire ? At this point in Tony's speech, the emergency alarms sounded and the Phoenix Convention Center was evacuated for 20 minutes. Yes, I'm serious.)
Spending Too Much Time on the Details Rather than the Dreams.
