Think Outside the Egg

March 25, 2008

From the friendly fellows at Church Marketing Sucks.com:

The biggest Christian holyday deserves the most creative marketing campaign. Check-out these creative ideas from CMS. And this.

Also: glow sticks at Granger Community (thank you Tim Stevens). What did your church do to promote your Easter service?

Courageous Leadership Award

March 24, 2008

Have you heard of the Courageous Leadership Award? For the second year in a row, Willow Creek and World Vision will award $100,000 to the church who most "strategically, intentionally, and creatively leveraged their unique God-given vision, gifts, and resources to address the AIDS issue."

In the vein of the X Prize ("Revolution through Competition"), the Courageous Leadership Award hopes to inspire other churches by honoring those who are winning battles against AIDS.

It's very exciting to see an award like this being used to spur the Church to help with the AIDS crisis. But, does winning money make the church's efforts less authentic? I don't think so, I think it's a great idea. What do you think? Is your church doing anything to battle the AIDS?

Easter

March 23, 2008

The Catalyst Road Trip team has taken the last several days off to rest and enjoy a weekend of NCAA basketball (sorry Duke fans) and to remember how and why we have been given freedom to live without the fear of death's finality. The road trip team will be back on tour for a quick, two day trip this week and details will be shared soon. Tonight will end the Viewer's Choice Contest and we will announce, later this week, the winning city for an upcoming Catalyst Road Trip visit.

Until then, we wanted to simply enjoy this day and celebrate, with you, the risen Christ. Our hope remains fixed on Jesus and today marks the anchor point of our faith. Death is not the end, and by His victory over the grave we have been given an invitation to share in the glory of God. All praise to Jesus...

We are thankful to walk along this journey with you...

Your Catalyst Road Trip Team.

Part 3 (of 3) from Unleash - Perry Noble, Senior Pastor of NewSpring Church

March 21, 2008

Perry Noble took some time in between sessions at the Unleash Conference last week to sit down with the Catalyst Road Trip team and share part of his story with us. We asked him several questions and are very excited to share this with you... Perry shared about three specific topics and all are featured in the video below:

  1. Perry Noble shares about the leadership culture of NewSpring Church...
  2. "Be Yourself" - Perry Noble elaborates on the importance of being who God created you to be...
  3. Perry Noble offers an encouraging challenge to young leaders...

Take a couple of minutes to hear from a man who is leading a team of devoted followers of Christ by simply elevating the majesty and glory of Jesus.

Part 2 (of 3) from Unleash - Tony Morgan from NewSpring Church shares about blogging…

March 20, 2008

How many of you have a blog or have considered entering the ever expanding world of "blogging?" Tony Morgan, pastor and chief strategic officer at NewSpring Church in Anderson, SC, took a break from the Unleash Conference last week and sat down with the Catalyst Road Trip... we peppered Tony with a number of questions, many of which focused on what it's like to manage a blog. For those of you that do not know about Tony Morgan he has a VERY popular blog as evidenced by the number of readers that follow him daily. We asked Tony, "How do you build an audience for your blog?" and "How do you know what to blog about?" As is the case with his blog, Tony shares practical and valuable insight.
