(written late Wednesday night)
When I woke up this morning I had no idea that an afternoon meeting would leave me sitting in my car, outside Starbucks, wiping away tears from my eyes, & desperately trying to process the previous hour long conversation. "Human Trafficking" and "Slavery" were terms that I thought I understood. Today I realized that my understanding was merely cognitive and far removed from my heart. When Rani Hong shared her story with me my distant heart was pricked, and it split in two. I saw the reality of slavery, and I wept.
This story will absolutely blow your mind. The sovereignty of God and His faithfulness to rescue the forgotten captive came alive today in an unexpected moment - I saw the hope in Rani's eyes. She is not the face of slavery, she is the face of rescue. Rani Hong is mobilizing a global army to fight the injustice of human trafficking & slavery. It can end. It must end.
Here is a video highlighting Rani's story as seen on Oprah. Yes, Oprah...
