It's travel day!  Our bags are in the belly of the plane, I'm making friends with total strangers while we all search for more leg room, and Kenya is just hours away! (several hours away)  :)

I was really surprised by what happened last night while packing. Being on the road with the Catalyst Road Trip & the Catalyst National Tour for the last two+ years has left me a little numb to any excitement for upcoming trips.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE traveling, but now I don't start packing till an hour before I have to leave for the airport.  It's mindless, easy, and requires little to no effort.

Yesterday morning I began packing early, checked out the list of last minute items I needed to pick up, and spent the day getting shots and running errands.  I spent more time getting ready for this trip than any other in the last two years, easy...and I never been more excited.  Diligently working on the seemingly temporal and mundane details of this trip prepared my heart to grow with faith and trust reminding me that the Lord is up to something far bigger than my ability to comprehend.  This adventure will be special, and I truly believe He wants to do something great.  I went to bed thankful and hopeful...

Kyle Zimmeran, worship pastor at Mariners Church, contagious visionary, and one of my best friends out here in Orange County looked at me and spoke words that have become my personal prologue for this trip, "LV, God is not taking you half way across the world so that you come home the same.  Hear His voice."

Will You Pray?

  • Will you pray with me that I, and our entire team, will hear the Lord's voice?
  • Will you pray that our hearts are fully surrendered and available to Him?
  • I am praying He is given freedom to do what He already wants to do...

This is our travel day.  Next stop, Kenya.  You can follow the rest of the team and their blogs here.

Thanks for joining us!  This will be fun...

Honored to be a part,

LV

AHA! Free Online Conference Wednesday

Aha Conference

Our partners at Leadership Network are hosting another online conference this Wednesday.

It's 40 speakers, 6 minutes each, sharing an "Aha!" moment that changed their ministry. (I like this "Aha!" premise, it's better than asking "the most important thing" - because those answers are obvious: Jesus, Bible, Prayer, leadership, etc. This is gauranteed to give you helpful new information.)

Best of all, it's FREE! You just have to go here to register: http://aha.leadnet.org

The conference will be Noon - 4pm EST (9am - 1pm PST) tomorrow.

40 leaders sharing 40 game changing ministry insights. This is sure to be worth a few hours of time with your team.

Catalyst Voices - Dr. John C. Kim from JAMA

March 01, 2010

in the fall of 1906 20 American missionaries began praying for revival in Korea.  By January of 1907, Korea was swept by a dramatic movement of prayer and repentence known today as The Great Pyongyang Revival.

100 years later Dr. John C. Kim is returning the favor; he is the President & Founder of Jesus Awakening Movement for America (JAMA),  a wave of young Korean Americans passionately seeking the Lord for revival in America, "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

I had the honor of meeting with Dr. Kim during our visit to Monterey, CA and was absolutely blown away by the humble heart of this 70yr young leader.  He has...

  • traveled to over 50 countries & spoken on over 300 college campuses around the world...
  • taught in universities for over 38 years, including Pepperdine University & the University of Alaska, Anchorage...
  • served as a Special Assistant to the Governor of Alaska...
  • spoken to hundreds of thousands of young people in the U.S. and internationally...

Dr. Kim's personal story of dramatic healing serves as the foundation for his passion to lead young leaders in the church through genuine repentence and prayer.  Here is a video clip from our interview with Dr. Kim highlighting how JAMA began...

Launch Before it’s Perfect

Scott Belsky, founder of the99percent.com, talks about the benefits of getting a new project out the door, instead of endlessy tweaking it to perfection. Check-out his new book, Making Ideas Happen.

"One thing every company has in common is a desire to innovate. Whether it means creating entirely new products or improving existing ones, everyone is familiar with the anxiety that accompanies all things new. All too often, we strive to get everything right the first time around. As a consequence, our products suffer from costly delays and insufficient feedback prior to launch. ... the benefit of launching in beta, on a practical level, is you can only get feedback and real user data when the product is released. ... on a psychological level, a team thinks differently once the first version of a product is up and running. Your team will become more expedient and start to think of the project in smaller chunks rather than as an insurmountable giant ...
