15 Signs that a Church is in Trouble

November 10, 2009

From Perry Noble, here are 15 signs that a Church is in Trouble.

#1 – When excuses are made about the way things are instead of embracing a willingness to roll up the sleeves and fix the problem.

#2 – When the church becomes content with merely receiving people that come rather than actually going out and finding them…in other words, they lose their passion for evangelism!

#3 – The focus of the church is to build a great church (complete with the pastors picture…and his wife’s…on everything) and not the Kingdom of God.

#4 – The leadership begins to settle for the natural rather than rely on the supernatural.

#5 – The church begins to view success/failure in regards to how they are viewed in the church world rather than whether or not they are actually fulfilling the Great Commission!

#6 – The leaders within the church cease to be coachable.

#7 – There is a loss of a sense of urgency!  (Hell is no longer hot, sin is no longer wrong and the cross is no longer important!)

  1. As we are preparing for our annual unconditional love conference, I have encountered some nasty, ugly comments from church pastors and leaders.  Our conference is for the broken, rejected, indigent of society…the ones Jesus would actually go after and give them a renewed essence of life…the drug addict, one living in an alternative lifestyle, the homeless, the bruised, broken and battered of our society.  Well, as we were seeking a “church” location as a host facility, I’ve heard things like, “well we don’t rent our our church”; “...whose going to watch over those who may be homeless inside our facilities”, ...we don’t permit such strangers into our church.  YES!  I’ve heard these comment from churches and boy did I exist those buildings quickly.  I shook the dust from my meet and wrote “ICHABOD” on the door as I departed.  One church I told the minister there to remove the “MISSIONARY” from the middle of the church’s name.

When is the church going to realize that Jesus is ready for His return and the church has so many irrelevant programs that do not contain the kingdom agenda, and Jesus is not pleased.  The Church of Jesus Christ is not at all doing the works, and certain not the greater works.  Those of us who are doing the works suffer tremendous persecution because many see our passion as unnecessary or irrelevant.  Thanks for the info.

  2. I am refreshed whenever I listen or watch Perry. I always “stop and take a look at self”. Where do I stand with Gods Grace. I remember, where I had much sin, I now have much Grace and much to give. Aloha
