There wasn't a dry eye in the arena...our team has already talked about how this moment will go down as one of the most powerfully moving moments in Catalyst history. If you were there you will remember. If this is your first time seeing this let your heart be open...and it might help to have some tissue :)
Jimmy Wambua meets Mark, his Compassion Sponsor of 19 years, for the very first time.
Are you open?
Jimmy begins to share at minute 3:45...
Will you sponsor a Compassion Child?

POWERFUL!! What is that song at the end?

So powerful. How many children were sponsored that day? Thank you for the involvement with Compassion International.

Waiting at 3:00am for our kids to come home from Georgia. At least they can do that. This is pretty great. Who knows what this means for a little boy or girl who has no hope, except another like Jimmy? We can all do more in this world.

This was my first time to Catalyst.
I have been a sponsor with Compassion for a little over a year.
I told my friends - this was THE MOMENT that defined Catalyst 09 for me.
AMAZING!
Thank you for sharing so that we may share with those close to us!

That song in the video is “Free to Change the World” by Casey Darnell.

What a blessing to have been witness to this at Catalyst! I came home that weekend and had my entire elementary children’s ministry write letters to our Compassion Child that we have sponsored for about two years now. I tried to tell them this story, certainly my version wasn’t as moving, but in hopes of challenging our kiddos to not only bring their money each week for Aaron (our sponsored kid) but to invest in him as our little brother, like Mark did! Thanks for the video; I can’t wait to show them this weekend!

Over the past few years there have been so many Catalyst moments that have changed me, but you’re right…this is one I will definitely NEVER FORGET!!

This was absolutely a perfect picture of the caring and loving Jesus that we all know. To see what this young man, Mark committed to at a young age and following through with his commitment was awesome. To actually see Jimmy’s response and how overcome he was at seeing his sponsor was a moment indeliby inscribed in my memory. There are moments in life , images we all have—children, weddings, etc. of our families and external moments—9-11, Hurricane Katrina photos (I live on the MS gulf coast 30 miles inland). This moment will be one I will never forget. Thank you Catalyst for following after the heart of Christ and ministering to orphans. I signed up that day to be a sponsor. I now await a letter from my new friend. Catalyst events amaze me—have been to three and sgined up for next year!
