  1. Not sure the category but another site is ROOV.com.  Connecting people with like passions.  Great opportunities.  Respectfully, Sally

  2. Great list! You hit the nail on the head with most of them. The only one I would switch out is Flickr over Facebook. I’m really getting tired of Facebook and everyone under the sun wanting to be my “friend” and throw cupcakes at me. I could do without it.

  3. Good call Brad. Sorry about all those cupcakes (you could’ve just written on my fun wall about it, though.)

    Yes, ROOV.com, yes!

  4. Wow!  I must be more of a social networking geek than I thought I was!  Great list- We have used Jott and love it for sending a “different” message to everyone.  I’ve used it several times on the road when I don’t have my computer with me.  Thanks for the extra ideas!

  5. One I recently discovered is the web browser called Flock.  It’s awesome!  If you’re really into social networking, blogging, photo-sharing, news, etc… it really maximizes your online experience.  It’s a free download at flock.com.

  6. Wow! Great list. I counted & have used 33 of these. Some good new ones that I need to check out.

One I’d add for blogging would be Expression Engine (http://www.expressionengine.com). They, like WordPress, have both a self-hosted & hosted version. I’ve been using EE for about 2 years & it is the best, most featured-packed & flexible content management system I’ve known. It’s what is running this site as well :-)

  7. Thanks for this list.  There are a few on here I’m going to check out.

  8. I’m glad Chris E. mentioned it - Expression Engine is the BMW of blogging systems. Fast, flexible, powerful, and nearly infinitely customizable. We’re building Andrew and Luis Palau blogs on that platform this year. Yeah, WP is free, but free isn’t always best for every situation (and the EE Core version is free).

I hope I didn’t miss it above, but 37signals’ Basecamp and Campfire apps are world-class. Their development philosophies of simplicity and elegance have made them power tools for project collaboration.

Google Video is pretty much not being developed any more, I think - but Google Apps are great. I use the Apps for your domain (gmail at yourdomain.com) for ministries, and the Docs, Calendar, and Reader are best-in-class.

  9. Since I’ve started microblogging and using social networks more, the need for streamlining updates has increased. Who wants to hit a bunch of different web apps to update your status?

Enter HelloTxt.com and Ping.fm. They both have their bright points (HT supports more services, Ping.fm has a nicer iPhone client), but I can update all my services (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, et. al.) with ONE submission. A life-changer if you’re a social networking butterfly.

  10. Vixy.net for extracting videos from YouTube, etc. Great for getting those pesky sermon illustrations into ProPresenter. =)

I keep thinking of new ones - I could be here all night! I’m lazy, so just check out my “web-app" tag at del.icio.us.

  11. I have tried many of these especially News, Social bookmarking and Social Networks.

    And finally using only
    Blogger
WordPress.com - free blogging and hosting.
    Twitter - microblogging and mobile.
    StumbleUpon - bookmarking and browsing
    Digg - social news.
    Facebook - general networking.
    YouTube - video hosting, sharing

I learnt you have to shortlist in order to be part of every community.

    Thanks!
