I read this post today from ChurchMarketingSucks.com.
OutOfUr said something about Mega churches, and someone else reacted and it's not really a big deal -- I know we all love each other and are fighting the same battle -- but I wish we could discuss some of these issues. Many well known speakers have talked about this kind-of new tide of change and reformation the Church (big 'C') is experiencing. I wish we could all get together and discuss it! With patience, grace, honesty, frankness, love, data/statistics to make our points, etc.
Perhaps we need to say, like Galatians 2:9 "They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the Jews."
Therefore, if any really rich Christians are reading this, I ask you to please host a gathering of several mega church pastors and small church pastors, missional pastors and attractional pastors, from progressive and traditional churches. To discuss their different philosophies of ministry, why they're doing what they're doing, what their motives are, what their tactics are, what their results are, whether those motives, tactics & results are working or are biblical, defining what "working" and "biblical" mean, etc.
Seriously, if there's anyone out there that's rich enough to pay for a few hundred people to gather for a week, this would be an awesome way to help foster unity, help us get on the same page, and help build the Kingdom.
And dear friends, let us love one another.
