Automatic Tithe Machines

(ATM's) are being installed in more and more churches reports Pastor Marty Black, founder of SecureGive, a provider of giving kiosks to churches. One SecureGive customer church reports the devices account for about 20% of giving. Is this the wave of the future for passing the plate?

  1. wow… interesting idea, for sure. For a church that’s already done away with “passing the plate” (ie: “Joy Boxes” at Mars Hill Bible Church) then this is probably just the next evolutionary step. But for a church that thinks passing the plate is still the way to go, this is probably sacrilege!

Me personally?  2nd Corinthians 9:7 says it all: “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

One of my buddies always says (not sure where he heard it) that if a Christian school is ever considering changing their mascot, they should change it to the most intimidating thing that church has to offer: they should call themselves “The Fighting Offering Plates”!

  2. Praise God for technology!
I just sure do hope that the people giving are heartily giving.

    God bless!
