First Vanagon Trip in CA - Crystal Cathedral!

December 02, 2008

Stopped by the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA to meet Rick Mysse, a pastor with the Reformed Church of America.  Rick has been a huge part of Catalyst through the years and is passionate about using his influence to help the younger generation effectively impact people for Christ.  Rick's leadership and influence in the RCA have potential of long lasting impact, not only on a denomicational plane, but also on a cultural plane.

Rick is bringing a crew to Catalyst West in April and is helping us develop key connections with leaders here in Orange County - his heart is for the people of southern California, and it's exciting so exciting to see!  Something tells me this is just the begining of a journey in learning more about what is happening on the front line of ministry out here along the west coat!

Could you imagine Andy Stanely or Matt Chandler speaking on "The Hour of Power?!"

  1. weird, when I was a kid (family lived in Santa Ana) we used to drive by the crystal cathedral all the time.  my brothers and I would laugh about the weird, happy pastor that wore the dress - we would also boast about who could break more windows with a rock!!

now I pastor a church in Detroit - with no windows (former bar/nightclub) and I wear jeans & a t-shirt.  so, I walk outside to discover a kid throwing a rock at the building - ha! (glad it isn’t made of glass)

hmmm, this comment is pretty pointless, huh?!

    uh, GO CATALYST!

    peace,

  2. I would agree, Rick is a great guy with an awesome heart for this generation. I’ve been able to hang out with Rick and see his heart and am excited for how God will use him in power to reach this generation.

    For Jesus,

  3. not pointless!  i’ll admit i wondered how hard it would be to get a rock through one of those panes…but then i realized that Rick might not like that ;)

it’s amazing to see a place that has been branded in a certain light and to hear Rick share such amazing vision with young leaders and cultural relevance at the core of it.  there is a swell of fresh thought coming out of the Crystal Cathedral!

Yes, Rick is going after the next generation and he’s doing it as a man who sees that they are going to be the front runners…he’s releasing them to live in their strengths and talents.  And it’s happening slowly, naturally…it’s exciting!
