  1. Thanks so much for linking to this website. I’m a Lutheran who is examining how the Emerging Church and my tradition go together. Just as there are stereotypes about the Emerging Church, Baptists, and Catholics - there are stereotypes about Lutherans (although I wonder what they are for an outsider looking in at us). This is a great article to help explain all of the different streams that I have seen in the Emerging Church!  Thanks again!

  2. Great article. Looking from the outside from over here in Australia and recently been in the US for Passion Conference and visiting Rob Bell’s church I can’t help but wonder what does God think and what is he doing through all these labels. I see here in Australia a generation emerging that think differently and are passionate for Christ alone, but I my prayer is that we don’t get wrapped up into another label that gravitates towards the same course we have seen through the ages. Sure labels represent something and language is necessary for communication but language’s first priority is creative.

  3. What are we creating?
I think its great as long as we don’t turn anti against all that has been before us and we live out the gospel with Christ at the center… I am part of Jesus’s Church, the bride, His body.
remember we are in this together, the former needs to open its mind and the latter needs to remember.

  4. Inspiring.

The ways of Jesus are subtle and easily misunderstood. Pluck a few words from their context and the gospel bends to mean many different things. Maybe this is why the emerging church and Emergent are also so controversial and misunderstood as they seek to truly find what it means to follow Jesus today. Could we join in the conversation as brothers and sisters? Can we look for the hand of God, where He is moving His church as a whole, not the emergent or denominational flavors but the body of Christ, the people?

Those in the emerging church are not perfect (who is?), but to me the honest pursuit of Jesus is refreshing and inviting.
