Have you ever driven north from Los Angeles along Pacific Coast Highway (CA 1)?  Quite possibly the most beautiful strech of road the Catalyst Vanagon has seen…amazing scenery!

I had the chance to stop in Pismo Beach to meet Doug Smith and the youth ministries team from New Life Community Church - Doug Smith, Dre Marinez, Angie Plastino, & Mike Wooten all attended Catalyst in October, and Dre shared about how her experience at Catalyst helped open the doors for an opportunity to work in Kenya…she is moving here in the fall.

On the way out of Pismo Beach Doug took me down to a surf shop just off the beacn, a shop named ESTEEM.  Randy Hamilton, owner, and his crew at ESTEEM are a light in the heart of a surfing community.  They host a bible study for surfers right inside their store! 

Even as I was talking with Randy about the story of ESTEEM a young guy walked through the doors with his board and obvioulsy having just finished surfing for the day.  He was just stopping in to say hey…the story of ESTEEM is a story of a business using their presence in the community as a means to pour into people. 

It’s been a long day of driving and I’m beat, off to bed.  I am meeting a group of pastors tomorrow morning at the Abbey Coffehouse, part of Vintage Faith in Santa Cruz.  Good night..
