On Friday we spent several hours with Dino Rizzo and the team from Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Not many people know how bad Hurricane Gustav ripped through Baton Rouge...it's devastating! As of Friday, Sept. 5th, power is expected to be out in parts of southern Louisana for 4-6 weeks; homes are destroyed, and many people in "the bayou" have yet to be reached. They need help! We asked Dino what they need and how the Catalyst audience might be able to help. His answer was simple - please send us blue tarps!
- Will you send one (1) blue tarp to Healing Place Church as way of helping the recovery efforts from Hurrican Gustav
- Our goal is 50 Blue Tarps by Friday, September 12th.
Here is a BLUE TARP LINK where you can purchase a blue tarp; this shipping address is below. When you have shipped it please let us know so we track how close we are to hitting our goal, let's do this! It's simple, a recovering city needs our help!

lv and brad - from those of us in baton rouge and healing place church, thanks soooo much for doing this. all y’all at catalyst are amazing - your heart to serve and bring the Church together has blessed so many for so long.
like pastor dino says in the video, the need for tarps here just doesn’t seem do diminish despite the fact that thousands and thousands have already been distributed. there are just soooo many trees down on houses and roofs messed up. we need all sizes of tarps, so this is really really appreciated big time.
huge huge huge thank you. love ya - LV any time you’re ready to roll back to btr just holler - we loved having you here!

word is spreading, 50 tarps is way too small a goal! if you listen to Dino in the video he gives a number of what they have already used and what they still need (it’s an insane goal)...how many tarps can we send to Baton Rouge?! I am sending five (5) 20’ x 20’ tarps personally. can you get the word out to other bloggers?

Seven 10’ x 24’ tarps are on their way…wish I could be there to hand them out!

I received an email from some of Dino’s team saying that they need these tarps ASAP due to hurricane Ike. So, if you are shipping them some tarps, please send them with as speedy of shipping as you can afford.

bill is right - we are not only in the process of continuing to hand out tarps for gustav victims, but are also working to gear up for a possible louisiana landfall of hurricane ike. if you remember, when katrina hit us in 2005, rita struck just a few weeks later in another part of our state. deja vu. but this time the Church is even more of a unified force working together to respond to gustav AND prepare for ike.
so thanks again for all the help that bloggers everywhere are being by helping spread the word about this tarp project. y’all are amazing people!
