Help us Win $40,000 & Get Free Catalyst Tickets

December 04, 2009

Ok, if we win as a team, we'll pay for 5 Catalyst tickets for anyone who gave us accurate balloon coordinates (1 person per balloon) & we'll give the rest to Compassion International, we won't profit from this, it's just for fun.

Here's the deal:
DARPA is doing a "Networking Challenge" tomorrow morning. They're hiding 10 large balloons around the US - for only 8 hours tomorrow (Saturday, 10am EST to 4pm, details here). Whoever submits the GPS coordinates of ALL 10 will win $40,000.

Catalyst is a network all over the U.S. If we all work together tomorrow, we can possibly win $40,000.

If you see a red balloon like this one tomorrow, send approximate GPS Coordinates (1 mile accuracy) by text to Catalyst Ninja Jesse Phillips, 404.513.9980. If we win, you'll get 5 free tickets to any Catalyst event (paid for by the $40K prize).

LET'S DO THIS!

  1. There will probably be:
    - one in California (@LVHanson)
    - one in the Pacific Northwest (@gregrussinger)
    - one in the southwest states like AZ, NM, UT (@brianwurzell)
    - one in Colorado or Kansas? (@mafeinberg)
    - one in the midwest, near Chicago? (@scotthodge)
    - one down in Florida? (@joelhunter)
    - one in Georgia, since their headquarters are here. (@catalystleader)
    - probably another in the South east (again, b/c they’re headquartered down here) (@DinoRizzo)
    - one in New York (@JonTyson)
    - one in D.C. (@MarkBatterson)
    - one maybe in Boston, or Philly? (@scalgaro)
where else? (I know that’s more than 10)

  2. I am going out on a limb and say there will be none in area of Pennington Gap, VA.  But I would venture to check a city like New York, NY, Louisville, KY or Indianapolis, IN.

And DARPA is based in Arlington, so DC is a great guess as to where one will be.
