New President, Same Problems

November 05, 2008

At the time of this writing the election results are not final. But no matter who gets elected as president, our fundamental problems will be the same as yesterday. You can't change a nation without changing the people in the nation, and you can't change the people without changing their hearts (*note* this is not an Obama slam).

Cabinets and laws and court cases don't change hearts. So, if your guy won or didn't win, don't forget, we as Christians still have the same responsibility (and opportunity!) as we did yesterday. And that is to love God, love people, and help people connect with Jesus so He can change their hearts (perhaps, some may debate this - Great, share your opinion, please!).

Please don't be so politically minded to believe that the new Prez will solve or cause all of our problems. Our problem is sin, and the solution is Jesus. No amount of legislation will make us all work together and love each other and serve each other. But if we focus on loving people, advancing the Kingdom and winning others to Jesus (thank you AGO), we may actually see the change some of us are fighting for so ferociously in the political arena.

What do you think? Agree, disagree? let's discuss...

Amein! You’re right! It doesn’t matter who’s “ruling the country,” but who’s ruling their hearts!

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

    Amein and Amein!

  2. I completely agree.  Pardon my blatancy but my thought this morning was new president same ol’ crap.  I think that a lot of people Christians included believe that a new president means a magic spell is going to occur and everything is going to be all nice and pretty.  I have many other thoughts on the whole election but I’ll keep them to myself.  I ranted to my husband enough last night.
