#Together Tuesday

October 21, 2008

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Eph. 4:16)

Social networking is exploding, especially through twitter. This is a good thing, because the body of Christ needs to be networked together. Every member should be using their gifts, supporting other members, working Together.

Therefore, we are re-purposing Tuesday to be "Together Tuesday." Every Tuesday, go to lunch with another member of the body. Talk to them about who they are, what God has gifted them to do, what passions He has given them. This would be especially helpful if it's someone that you don't know really well, maybe a twitter acquaintance, pastor of another church, or a new person in your small group.

Or, if you prefer, this week is the perfect time to rehash what God said to you at Catalyst. Call-up a friend that went to Catalyst also, go to lunch and share with each other what you learned.

Support the body by getting connected with the other members, and we will all build each other up in love as we learn to work together, collaborating to fulfill God's mission.

  2. I love what God is doing through catalyst… my questions are:

    1) How do/can non-USA nationals remain part of the community or ongoing developmental programs (such as: Together Tuesday, etc)? Is there a way we can have the same experience via online, or when we visit the USA (vacation or business), will we be able to connect with you or be a part of some of the sessions?

    2) Also, I would like to add as credits/exposure, the leadership principles of what I learnt at catalyst to my CV and working experience. So far, only USA residents can do this via the Catalyst college. Is there a way for those of us who don’t live in the USA to be able to take advantage of this offer?

    Thanks.

  3. Thanks for the idea Jesse.

My best friend and I both attended the Catalyst Conference “together” this year. We met up yesterday (Tuesday) at a local Starbucks in downtown Atlanta to followup on what we got from the conference. Out of our 1 hour talk and a Venti Caramel Machiato, we converged on a great idea that I’ve been brewing over in my mind the last 2 months.

After braonstorming, we decided to make Tuesdays our official “Together Tuesday”. We plan to build a tribe of thinkers and hertics - as Seth Godin would say - and see where it goes.

  4. Antwon - you’re the man, bro! Can’t wait to see what you come-up with!
John - thanks! Let’s do lunch next week!
Kendra - sorry for taking so long to get back to your question:
    1) You can still be involved with Catalyst by: using http://www.ROOV.com/catalyst to connect with other leaders around social causes. Also, you can have lunch with other Christians on #TogetherTuesday. Online, we have http://www.catalystbackstage.com and we do periodic live interactions at our http://www.mogulus.com/catalystspace . We also have CDs and DVDs available for sale at our store: http://www.catalystspace.com/store/

    2) We have Catalyst University that gets you credits at the University of Mobile. If those can transfer to Barbados, then you’re set. Otherwise, we have not set-up a program with schools outside the US, not enough interest.

Kendra, we want you to connect with Catalyst leaders like yourself. The Body of Christ is peppered all over with such leaders. Use Roov.com, Facebook, and your local church networks to find Catalyst leaders, and go to lunch with them. I challenge you to setup a monthly or weekly meeting of the Catalyst leaders in your region for discussion, debate, knowledge transfer, and perhaps bringing in some speakers - or watching message DVDs.
