Icon City - Bend, OR
I had the chance to spend some time with Tim Bach & Lonnie Chapin in Bend, OR during the recent NW tour, and I wanted to share part of their story with you. A year ago I heard someone say, "if you want to plant a church in the Northwest take your church planting models, strategies, and plans and throw them out the window." Planting a church in the Great Northwest requires a surrender of any preconceived ideas...and a willingness to immerse yourself in the culture.
Tim, Lonnie, & their team have been in Bend for almost 8 months now and have established incredible trust and connection with the homeless, the leaders of the city, & other pastors/church leaders in Bend. They are partnering with the city to reach the city. Their story is amazing and one worth tuning into...check out what they do as full time jobs as they establsih Icon City. Icon City - "for the city, by the city."

Thanks for that video, LV. Our church plant in Portland operates off many of the same principles, but there was a lot I gleaned from Lonnie and Tim.
I’d be interested to know more about what they do on their 2X a month city-church partnerships. I didn’t see the info on their website…
