What does the election of Obama say about our culture?

November 13, 2008

Gabe Lyons, in a recent blog post, spoke about the spiritual state of our nation as reflected in the recent election:

If you care to listen, people in American culture are making their voice heard loud and clear. They want significance, they want to fix things broken in society, they want to fight injustice, they want peace and prosperity, they want change. Undoubtedly, intelligent people will debate for years about whether an Obama Presidency will fulfill the ultimate desire they have, but the fact remains - a majority of our society chose Barack Obama as the embodiment of that hope.

It's a deeply spiritual statement about where our culture is. One that should encourage the faithful everywhere.

That's a really interesting take. Does this mean we have a good opportunity, or we haven't done our job?
