The thing that disturbs me lately is that it seems we've made the goal something else all together. We think the goal is growing our churches to a certain size or our platforms (pulpits, blogs, books) to a certain fame. How hollow is that? And, how dangerous?

It's your host Lanny Donoho, here, with some important stuff for you. I'm not sure it would be an exaggeration to say the info I am about to give you is the most important stuff you will read in this decade, but I guess it may depend on what else you read.

Just outside of Quito, Ecuador there lies a small village. Not an established village that we, in the west, are used to seeing but a squatter’s village. The people here do not own the land. Their life circumstances forced them to this place where no one would notice them … this rutty land overlooking the nation’s capital at the foot of the Andes.

Many of you have had a two-year-old in your home, and I think that you will agree with this assessment: We all have a two-year-old within us that is waging a war!

Sure I'm a little skewed living in Sin City, but the realization that Christians lost the culture war has actually liberated and empowered us. Now we're joining our community in a different culture war-one that attacks poverty, crime, addiction, and pain. Our role is subversive, as we carry the light and love of Jesus into streets of our city.

Jesus didn't teach us what political platform would best represent the faith; but He did teach us by example how to help those who are in need. He taught us that in every realm of life, politics included, we are to love and live or die so that others can be better off.
