Ted Haggard seemed to have it all: everyone loved Pastor Ted. However, underneath the smile was a broken and hurting man. Eventually, his secrets were uncovered and the world was exposed to his brokenness. What can we, the church, learn from the Haggard's experience about the importance of relationships, demonstrating grace, giving people a second chance and making the church a welcome place for those who are hurting? Mike Foster facilitates this very compelling interview with both Ted and Gayle, reaching into the lives of two people, given a second chance.

Please fix the possessive on the couple’s name. It should be Haggards’, denoting both of them, not Haggard’s, making reference to only one of them. Thank you.

There’s a bit of a paradox about all of this which I can’t get my head around ... can someone else help me? They (the Haggards’) experienced God’s love and grace in a very real & powerful way ... but only because they were in the midst of a scandal. If what Ted did hadn’t caused a scandal, if he hadn’t experienced some peoples judgementalism, or excommunication by the leaders, would he still have had the same experience of grace?

Really great message on grace - truly am thankful for the Lord’s hand in this situation. Praise God He is the author of restoration and healing!
I just have a little issue though with how the Haggards said their church (New Life) was very open and compassionate to people who were “struggling,” yet they were so involved with anti-gay movements, leading thousands into gay hating ralleys, messaging, and political appeals from the pulpit. He was even filmed in the documentary “Jesus Camp.” Perhaps they were deceived as to how open their church really was? I pray that they will learn now to hate sin and love the people; rather than hating people all together.
