The Problem of Good
Scott Kauffmann | Author and Consultant

We all consider why the world is so bad, but we rarely ask why there is so much good. At the personal level, why do I know so many unbelievers who are more honest, more sacrificial, more joyful, more committed to other people? Why can artists, filmmakers and musicians who seem personally unredeemable create paintings, films, music and books that are so unmistakably transcendent? Read this Q Short preview from Scott Kauffmann and explore God’s second greatest gift: common grace.

  1. Though not having read the whole essay (as it is subject to purchase-before-you-get-it) I can only comment on as far as the 3 free pages have to offer.

I totally agree with Scott that “Comic Grace” is out, he is spot on. But on “Comic Waste” there is much to debate.

The evil of Comic Grace is that it can get some Christians to think that if they can be just as effective as non-Christians on impacting positively the world, then there would be not much need of having to carry the cross everyday. It put the pressure to Christians to be a bit lax, its a deadly illusion that entices Christians to get off-track.

The devil’s war I believe is singular and simple, to burn with others when his time comes up. Thus I feel he will work so much to make many focus on works and not personal relationship with God, even if it means getting people comfortable with heroic feats (eg. 9/11), horizontal love relations, (eg. reconciliation between husband and wife). All these are good but, lets not keep our eyes on the real ball which is preaching a vertical/personal relationship with God for EVERYONE, real intimacy with God for everyone, because that is what God wants with everyone.

If its love or unity of any kind, as Francis Chan once said, let it be the one that results out of everyone looking upward to Him, being focused on Him, and as we do, we all become like him, thus all becoming one like Him. thus the love/unity.
